Jordan Stout, the Big Ten’s best punter, is heading to the NFL

Penn State’s top special teams player is heading off to the NFL. On Tuesday afternoon,  Stout announced he will turning pro and declared for the 2022 NFL draft. Stout posted a message to announce his intentions on his Twitter account.

“I really can’t find the right words to express how incredible my time in State College has been and how honored I am to have played at such an incredible place,” Stout said in his released statement. “Little did I know I would be playing on one of the biggest stages in all of sports. To each individual I played with both at Virginia Tech and Penn State, I love you guys and I appreciate how you pushed me each and every day to be the fullest,”

“With that being said, I will be declaring for the 2022 NFL draft,” Stout continued. “Thank you to everyone that has been a part of this journey!”

It’s rare to see kickers and punters drafted during the seven rounds of the NFL draft,  Stout will unquestionably be on some team’s roster after the draft, if not before.

Stout was one of the most consistent performances for Penn State this season. Stout earned the Big Ten’s kicker of the year award after averaging 46.01 yards per punt on 67 punts, an average of 5,3 per game. Stout was also responsible for kickoff duties with 65 kickoffs and 59 touchbacks. He also converted on 16 of 23 field goal attempts and 34 of 36 extra-point attempts.
