Jordan Reid’s latest 2023 ESPN NFL mock draft continues the Anthony Richardson hype

Could Anthony Richardson really be a top-5 pick?

The last time we looked at an NFL mock draft from ESPN’s Jordan Reid, he had four quarterbacks going in the top 10.

In his latest mock draft that dropped on Wednesday — seven rounds! — he has four in the top 10 again (our latest mock draft from Christian D’Andrea has the same number in the top four!).

That’s: C.J. Stroud first to the Panthers, Bryce Young to the Texans, Will Levis to the Raiders at No. 7 … and as for the Indianapolis Colts, who need a QB? He has Florida’s Anthony Richardson going to the organization in desperate need of a young quarterback:

Of all the first-round passers, Richardson fits new coach Shane Steichen’s system the best. Steichen did a great job with Jalen Hurts as the Eagles’ offensive coordinator. Richardson’s combination of arm strength and mobility means he has plenty of upside to mold, even though he started just 13 games in college. The last Round 1 quarterback to have that few starts? Mitch Trubisky in 2017, who also had 13. Richardson needs polish, but he would enter a situation in Indianapolis with competent offensive targets and a strong running game to ease his transition.
