Jordan Poole literally cannot miss from the free-throw line.
The Golden State Warriors’ first-round pick is off to an incredible start to his NBA career at the free-throw line and is making a bit of history in the process.
Through his first 10 games, Poole has gone a perfect 23-of-23 from the charity stripe, becoming the first Warriors player to begin a career with a free-throw streak that long, according to Elias Sports Bureau. He is also the first Warriors rookie to make at least 23 straight shots at any point of a season since Klay Thompson in 2011-12.
The last rookie to make at least 23 was Memphis Grizzlies rookie Kobi Simmons during the 2017-18 season.
His best night came on Nov. 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers when he went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line to finish with 16 points in the victory. Given his ability to get to the basket and draw contact, converting at a high percentage from the line will certainly be beneficial for his career.
Poole is among the players that have been thrust into a larger role this season with the Warriors. With injuries to several players, including Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and others, the team has had to rely on the likes of Poole, Eric Paschall, Ky Bowman and others — the Warriors have had at 10 players miss at least one game this season due to injury.
Poole has flashed moments this season on the court. On Nov. 1, he recorded a career-high 20 points on 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range and he is averaging 9.5 points and 2.2 assists per game this season.
Though Poole may not ultimately convert every free-throw this season, his hot start hasn’t gone unnoticed as he shows off his shooting stroke. Surely, we may have just jinxed his next trip to the line…
