Jonathan Taylor refutes report of pre-existing back pain

Colts RB Jonathan Taylor refuted a report that he showed up to training camp with pre-existing back pain.

The saga between the Indianapolis Colts and running back Jonathan Taylor continues to add new layers each day. Now, there is a report the star back came to training camp with pre-existing back pain, a report Taylor has since refuted.

Though Taylor has been pretty quiet throughout this entire ordeal, he decided to speak up on this one. A report from ESPN’s Stephen Holder and Mike Chappell’s Fox59 surfaced that Taylor reported “back pain during his pre-training camp physical that was deemed to be from an injury that was not sustained while playing for Indianapolis.”

Because of this, the Colts reportedly are considering placing Taylor on the Non-football injury list (NFI), which allows the team to withhold his salary.

Taylor refuted the report late Sunday night, tweeting that he never had back pain and never reported any back pain during his physical.

Holder also reported for ESPN that Taylor failed his physical due to a combination of an ankle injury that required offseason surgery and the back injury.

Just a few months ago, a broken relationship between Taylor and the Colts seemed like a laughable situation. It has since become a reality, and the fact that so many new layers to this saga are being added at a high rate means we continue to step closer to a path of never mending this relationship at all.

This situation has gotten extremely messy, and it’s anyone’s guess what will happen next.
