The well-deserved accolades have been rolling in for Jonathan Taylor this week.
On Wednesday, the star running back earned consensus First Team All-Big Ten honors and was selected as the conference’s Ameche-Dayne Running Back of the Year. Taylor followed that up on Thursday by being named as one of the five finalists for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award, joining Alan Ameche, Ron Dayne, and Melvin Gordon as the only players to earn that distinction in the history of the program. Dayne took home the award in 1999.

The honor is awarded annually by the nation’s 130 FBS head coaches and sports information directors to college football’s most outstanding player. The other finalists this season are LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard and Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, with the winner set to be announced next Thursday. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was named the recipient of the award last year.
This is the second major national award that Tayor has been named a finalist for this season, as he has already made the final cut for the Doak Walker Award as well along with Hubbard and Ohio State’s J.K. Dobbins.
The question on the minds of Wisconsin fans now: will he be invited to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist?
