Jedd Fisch and the Washington Huskies got something extra to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day, courtesy of running back Jonah Coleman. The junior took to social media for a surprise announcement, confirming that he will return to utilize his final year of eligibility in 2025.
“I’m going to say on the high end of 90 percent,” Fisch had said of his return before the Huskies took on UCLA. “But we’ll see.”
The Arizona transfer has been a critical part of Washington’s offense this season, tallying 1,008 yards and 9 touchdowns, which rank No. 6 and No. 8, respectively, in the Big Ten.
With sophomore Demond Williams Jr. set to take the reins at quarterback, he could greatly benefit from a strong running game, which is exactly what Coleman provides. Between Coleman and Adam Mohammed, the Huskies could have one of the Big Ten’s best combinations of running backs.
According to Fisch, Coleman has also found his voice as one of the team’s leaders, and with what could be a much-improved team in 2025, having a leader of his caliber both on and off the field should prove to be crucial as Washington’s new coaching staff continues to build its program.
