Jon Robinson: Titans, Mike Vrabel are working on contract extension

Titans GM Jon Robinson confirmed the team is working on a contract extension with head coach Mike Vrabel.

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson revealed on Wednesday that the team is working on a contract extension with head coach Mike Vrabel.

Robinson was a guest on “The Buck Reising Show” on 104.5 The Zone and was asked if the two sides were working on a contract extension, and the Titans general manager confirmed they are.

“Yeah,” Robinson replied. “We’re working through some things on that, you know… and that’s called business. You know, I have the utmost confidence in Mike and all the coaches being in there. We love Mike being there. No doubt that, you know, we’ll get all that figured out.”

This doesn’t come as a surprise at all, as Vrabel has done a great job overall with the Titans since taking over in 2018.

The Titans have sported a winning record in each of Vrabel’s four seasons, they have made three straight trips to the playoffs (including a trip to the AFC Championship Game in 2019), and have two consecutive division titles.

In 2021, Vrabel did a masterful job during a season in which the Titans saw a ridiculous amount of injuries. Tennessee fielded an NFL record 91 players but still managed to finish 12-5 and secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

As a result, Vrabel is considered the favorite for the AP NFL Coach of the Year award. He has already garnered two Coach of the Year awards, one from the 101 Awards and another from the Pro Football Writers of America.
