Jon Robinson: Titans ‘may or may not have’ talked to Jadeveon Clowney within the last week

Have the Titans been in contact with Jadeveon Clowney recently?

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson was a guest on ESPN’s NFL Live on Thursday and was once again asked about the possibility of signing Jadeveon Clowney.

In his response, Robinson hinted that the Titans might have been in contact with Clowney in the last week, but also said they may not have.

“We may or may not have had conversations. I’ll leave it at that,” Robinson said (H/T 247Sports).

The Titans’ interest in Clowney is no secret at this point, as Robinson has admitted the team has been in contact with his reps during the offseason. What we don’t know is how recent the two sides have spoken.

The Titans’ general manager has made it clear the team would first like to get a look at Clowney, who has a history of injury issues and recently had core surgery after the 2019 campaign. That could be a potential roadblock at the moment with teams being unable to bring players in for physicals.

If the Titans can add Clowney, it would be further proof this team is all-in on 2020. Tennessee also inked Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry to extensions, with Henry’s coming on Wednesday.

And with Henry’s extension, the Titans now have more cap space to make a Clowney signing, as his cap hit is $4 million less than it would have been under the franchise tag, giving Tennessee $24 million to work with.

While there is still no timeline on when Clowney will make a decision, one would have to assume that he’ll do so before training camps start, which is July 28 for most teams.
