It’s all history at this point, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski reuniting to help lead the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a Super Bowl win back in 2020.
But it almost didn’t happen, according to UFC president Dana White.
Speaking during a live commentary of Saturday night’s UFC 278 event featuring Gronkowski and members of his family, White told the story of helping broker a deal that would have had Brady and Gronkowski joining forces in Las Vegas to play for the Raiders.
That was until then-Raiders head coach Jon Gruden killed the deal, according to White.
White said that Brady was “looking for houses and everything,” and it’s worth noting that at the end of his story, Gronkowski acknowledged the veracity of his tale.
So, there you have it. Bucs fans can evidently thank Jon Gruden for helping them win both of their Super Bowl rings.
