Auburn fans have begged for it for years.
The tight end position is finally being used in the passing game. Bryan Harsin and Mike Bobo’s offense has looked a lot different than in previous years. A big part of that is John Samuel Shenker being productive in the passing game from the tight end position.
So far this season Shenker has 20 catches for 268 yards.
He joined The Drive with Bill Cameron on ESPN 106.7 earlier this week. He was asked about his production on the field and what was different about this season.
“I think it’s just trust,” Shenker said. “When you get a new staff, you have the opportunity to impress new people and to show what you believe you are capable of and I think even from just the spring all the way to now, we’ve grown that trust with the coaches, the quarterbacks, Bo (Nix), TJ (Finely). So I think sometimes that trust, and obviously I’ve played with Bo for a while now. It’s our third year, so we already have chemistry together. So now we are capable of doing the things we are doing now. We showed it on the practice field and once we got out there it wasn’t irregular for us at that moment. I think that’s just a testament to what we’ve done since spring and even over the years of repping that kind of stuff.”
Shenker and the Tigers are off this week and will prep for Ole Miss next week.
