KNOXVILLE — University of Tennessee senior John Fulkerson was named to the Karl Malone Award watchlist.
The award goes to the best power forward in college basketball and is named for Louisiana Tech great Karl Malone, who went on to enjoy a Hall of Fame career in the NBA with the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Lakers.
Former Volunteer Grant Williams, who recently finished his rookie season with the Boston Celtics after leaving Rocky Top as the two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year, was a finalist for the award as a junior in 2018-19.
Fulkerson is one of four SEC players among 20 candidates.
Kentucky’s Isaiah Jackson, Texas A&M’s Kevin Marfo and LSU’s Trendan Watford were the other nominees from the SEC.
