During his media availability at the NFL combine earlier this week, Broncos general manager John Elway was asked about the statuses of cornerback Chris Harris, defensive end Derek Wolfe and defensive lineman Shelby Harris.
Elway gave a brief update on the pending free agents but noted that the team is focusing on the combine right now, which makes sense.
“They’re all part of the process,” Elway said. “We’re going to look at that. Once we get back from here and start sitting down, we’ll really put the plan together and see what we’re going to do. We’ll be in contact with their agents. Ultimately, it’s up to the player and what they want to do.
“We’ll see where they fit in the plan. Obviously, you always want guys back like that, but you never know how it’s going to happen.”
After scouting prospects at the combine this week, Elway and his staff will begin preparing for March and the start of NFL free agency.
“We have still plenty of time until we get to free agency,” Elway said. “We still have three-four weeks until free agency even opens, so I think we take that time.”
