Another Nebraska Track and Field athlete has qualified for the upcoming Summer Olympics. Axelina Johansson threw the shotput 18.97m to win the Swedish National Championship and qualify for the Swedish Olympic Team in the upcoming Paris Games this summer.
Johansson is an accomplished athlete for the Cornhuskers. She has finished in third place twice (2022 and 2024) and won the title in 2023 at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
She also finished as a bronze medalist in the shot put in the 2023 European Athletic Team Championship. Johansson finished 13th at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in August 2023.
The women’s shot put qualifications at the 2024 Paris Olympics on August 8th.
