MILWAUKEE — The Philadelphia 76ers completed one impressive rally on Saturday. They trailed by as many as 18, but knocked off the host Milwaukee Bucks, 133-130. The win snapped Milwaukee’s 16-game winning streak, so it carries a lot of weight.
The Sixers received contributions from up and down the roster, but they also launched a lot of 3-pointers and converted on those looks. Philadelphia shot 18-for-37 from deep on the night, but in the second half specifically, they shot 12-for-21 from deep.
The Sixers received two huge triples in the final minutes. James Harden knocked down a deep 3-pointer before Joel Embiid drilled a 3 to give the Sixers the lead for good at 127-125 with 42 seconds left.
“It kinda comes from last game (the loss to the Dallas Mavericks),” Embiid said. “Just talking with all these guys, telling them that we need to shoot more 3s. Even tonight (Saturday), we made some, but I feel that we should shoot more than we do. I’m one of the reasons. I haven’t been shooting a lot of them.”
In the win over the Bucks, Embiid shot 3-for-5 from deep and that is something that he wants to see more of from himself. If he shoots more 3s, the rest of the team will follow. Especially, in big moments like Saturday.
“That’s why tonight, I made an effort to kinda get them up and also open up the floor,” Embiid added. “They have two good shot blockers back there. So just knock them down. I had to make it being down one at that point. I had to do it.”
Embiid and the Sixers made a statement on Saturday. Now, they head to Indiana to keep the momentum going against a pesky Pacers squad on Monday.
