After the Philadelphia 76ers were eliminated by the Miami Heat back on May 12, the next question concerning the team was the status of superstar big man Joel Embiid.
The big fella was not only dealing with a broken face and a concussion in the playoffs, but he was also dealing with a torn ligament in his right thumb. The thumb issue really hurt his ability to make quick passes out of the post when he would get doubled and that hurt Philadelphia’s offense.
On Tuesday, the Sixers announced that Embiid underwent surgery on Monday to repair the thumb. Separately, he underwent a procedure to repair an injury in his left index finger. Neither surgery will impact his ability to be with the team by training camp in early October.

This is obviously good news for the Sixers as they hope to have a very healthy Embiid on their continued quest for a championship in the 2022-23 season.
