Joel Embiid, Sixers ranked 7th in ESPN’s latest Power Rankings

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are ranked 7th in ESPN’s latest Power Rankings.

The Philadelphia 76ers are sitting at the top of the East with a 22-12 record with two games left before the All-Star break, but that doesn’t mean that things have been easy for them. The team is still continuing to work out a lot of kinks being such a new team in an extraordinary year.

Their loss at home on Saturday to a bad Cleveland Cavaliers team did raise some questions about how good they actually are. However, at the end of the day, they are still sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. It is good to work these types of things out while you’re still winning.

ESPN has come out with their latest power rankings and they have the Sixers ranked seventh following the loss to Cleveland:

An ugly home loss to Cleveland on Saturday night exposed a concern in Philadelphia’s offense: 3-point shooting. Philadelphia now ranks 14th in the NBA offensively and 28th in both 3-pointers made and attempted per game. That puts even more pressure on Joel Embiid to continue being the league’s most dominant interior force to keep the Sixers’ offense afloat.

The Sixers do have to find a way to put up more 3-point attempts. It is something that Embiid mentioned after their loss to Cleveland. They made 10 of them, but they only put up 28 as they had an issue scoring the way they did. In their defense, they put up 109 points, but they did not have the proper ball movement in order to make find any open looks from deep.

The Sixers will take on the Indiana Pacers on Monday at home.
