Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are playing excellent basketball lately. They have won 18 of their last 22 games to improve to 30-16 and are all alone in second place in the Eastern Conference. Not bad for a team that started 1-4 and 12-12.
The Sixers just wrapped up a very impressive 5-0 West Coast road trip. They won the final game of that trip by rallying from 21 points down to beat the Sacramento Kings despite playing without both Embiid and James Harden. It was one of their most impressive wins of the season.
Rookie Wire put out its most recent power rankings, and the Sixers are ranked fourth:
Philadelphia is 9-2 in January and is coming off a perfect 5-0 West Coast road trip after beating Sacramento on Saturday. They have their next four at home and are looking to close on the Celtics in first place in the East.
The Sixers return home from the trip to play host to Ben Simmons and the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. This is expected to be the first matchup between Embiid and Simmons since the deadline deal in February of 2022.
