Joel Embiid, Nick Nurse give injury updates as Sixers move forward

Joel Embiid and Nick Nurse offer up injury updates on the handful of Philadelphia 76ers who are dealing with ailments.

CAMDEN, N.J. — As the Philadelphia 76ers prepares for the preseason finale on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks, some injury questions need to be answered.

Joel Embiid, who is yet to play in the preseason, missed Monday’s matchup with the Brooklyn Nets while “under the weather.” With one exhibition game left on the docket, the big fella expects to play in it.

“I’m good,” said Embiid. “That’s the goal. I was supposed to play last game, but some things happen. I couldn’t play, but I’m good. That’s the plan for now so hopefully, come Friday, I’ll be ready to go.”

Other than Embiid, the Sixers were without PJ Tucker, Danuel House Jr. and Furkan Korkmaz for Monday’s preseason contest. They lost Tyrese Maxey in the first half due to back spasms, but coach Nick Nurse offered a positive update on those players.

“Everybody was in today (Wednesday),” said Nurse. “Tuck was out. He was back at practice today. House was back in and Furk was in live action today. So everybody was in from the other night that didn’t play.”

Then, there’s James Harden. The future Hall of Famer is waiting for his trade request to be fulfilled, but he stated in the past that he plans to play in the preseason finale against the Hawks.

“I know nothing, but last I saw was that he was gonna play in the last game,” Embiid said of Harden. “He was hoping to play in the last game. That’s what I saw. Like I always say, I try to stay away from these conversations, but just focus on trying to get better. I got myself to kinda worry about. I just wanna get better so that’s what I’m focused on.”
