Joel Embiid makes a plea to officiating to get James Harden more free throws

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid makes a plea to the officiating to get James Harden some free throws.

PHILADELPHIA–The Philadelphia 76ers are up 2-0 in their first round series with the Brooklyn Nets after a Game 2 win on Monday night, but there is one stat that stands out as this series shifts to Barclays Center: James Harden has not attempted a free throw.

When considering Harden is one of the elite players in the history of the game at drawing fouls and getting to the line, it is pretty ridiculous to see that stat. He had eight points, seven assists and five rebounds in the win on Monday.

Joel Embiid, who knows a thing or two about getting to the line, made a plea to the officiating to get Harden some free throws.

“I thought James did a good job of — bad shooting night, but he did a good job of managing and just keep going,” said the big fella. “He was aggressive and it’s kinda crazy that he’s not getting any free throws. I thought he’s been getting fouled a lot. I don’t think he’s been to the free-throw line at all during these two games, which is kind of insane to think about. So hopefully they change that.”

While some free throws would be nice, Harden and the Sixers will certainly take the two wins before this series shifts to Brooklyn for Game 3 on Thursday.
