Joel Embiid doing things for Sixers not seen since Allen Iverson

Joel Embiid is doing things on the floor for the Philadelphia 76ers not seen since the days of Allen Iverson.

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is one hell of a scorer. Standing 7 feet tall, the big fella plays like a guard on the offensive end. He can put the ball on the floor. He can knock down mid-range jumpers. He can hit 3-pointers. He’s a special talent.

In Friday’s 120-119 comeback victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Embiid had 39 points on 13-for-20 shooting with seven rebounds and four assists. He knocked down the game-winning jumper over Jusuf Nurkic with 1.1 ticks left to complete Philadelphia’s rally from 21 points down to win.

By scoring at least 39 points for the third straight game, Embiid became the first Sixers player to do that since Allen Iverson in 2004.

Embiid and the Sixers turn their attention to the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
