The Madden NFL video game franchise has been quite a talking point over the years, particularly when it comes to their gameplay. But this week, it’s all about the player rankings and ratings.

We saw the commotion caused by the ranking of Ja’Marr Chase as the 18th wide receiver on Madden. Cincinnati Bengals fans can at least feel a bit better about the rankings of their running back and safety.

Joe Mixon is coming off a career year, with 1,205 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns along with 314 yards and three touchdowns receiving.

That helped give him a rating of 93 on Madden, good for sixth overall and just four points behind the top running back, Derrick Henry of the Titans with 97 rating.

Rounding out the top five, Browns RB Nick Chubb (96), Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey (95), Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (95) and Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (94).

Safety Jessie Bates also comes in with a respectable, if not underrated, 90 rating after being a key piece on the defense, especially during the playoffs. He checks in at No. 7 among safeties and also just four points behind the top player at the position, Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu (94).

Following Mathieu are Chargers safety Derwin James (93), Cardinals safety Budda Baker (92), Titans safety Kevin Byard (92), Bills safety Micah Hyde (91) and Broncos safety Justin Simmons (91).

Bates, like Mixon, has shown they are among the top players at their respective positions.
