It sounds like Cincinnati Bengals fans (and fantasy footballers) won’t have to worry too much about star running Joe Mixon this week.
Mixon suffered an ankle injury last week against the Denver Broncos. But on Wednesday, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it clear he expects Mixon to practice Wednesday and beyond before suiting up.
Per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Taylor said “Joe is feeling pretty good.”
Mixon rushed 17 times for 58 yards last week in Denver before exiting, which meant Samaje Perine took over the duties at the spot.
While Mixon hasn’t missed any games this year, he’s come out sporadically with lower-body issues. He’s already up to 262 carries in this new 17-game season, just a hair off his 278 career-high. So even while healthy, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bengals coaches keep him on something of a stealth pitch count if they keep pacing for the playoffs.
