Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon wants to bring a Super Bowl to the city.
That much was clear during Mixon’s presser this week after the team officially announced his four-year extension.
He kept it short and sweet on that front, per Marisa Contipelli of the team’s official website: “I hope I can bring a Super Bowl here one day.”
The key to such a lofty idea? Mixon and the Joe Burrow-led offense need to get on the same page and stay that way for a long time.
To his credit, Mixon doesn’t think that’ll be a problem.
“Our offense right now, I believe it’s going to be very special,” Mixon said, per Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “The fans have a lot to look forward to. We’re definitely going to put on a show.”
And pairing well with Burrow doesn’t seem like it will be hard to do for one of the NFL’s best running backs based on their on-field styles.
But Mixon’s feelings on Burrow sure don’t hurt to look at either: “Burrow, he came in day one and he turned a lot of heads. He sees stuff on the field before it happens. He’s so developed so early, he’s not your average, typical rookie.”
Not typical is a good way to describe much of this summer for the Bengals. But paying up for the heart and soul of a team and a star player who wants to bring a title to the city isn’t one of those strange developments for the Bengals. Mixon and Burrow start getting after that goal when the season kicks off September 13.
