Joe Mixon ecstatic to receive jersey from Tom Brady after Patriots-Bengals

Joe Mixon almost missed the opportunity of a lifetime after the Cincinnati Bengals hosted the New England Patriots on Sunday.

The third-year running back faced an NFL legend, Tom Brady, but he was too nervous to ask for his jersey after the game. Although the Bengals lost 34-13, Mixon still had an incredible game, recording 136 rushing yards on 25 carries.

Mixon tweeted immediately after the game hoping to make up for his missed opportunity after the game.

Sure enough, Brady responded.

Brady talked about the tweet in his weekly interview on WEEI’s ‘The Greg Hill Show’.

“I’m going to send him one, because I saw that last night. It was pretty cool,” Brady said. “I feel the same way about so many of these young players that inspire me. That guy is one of the great running backs in the league. There was a time when I was a young player and I looked up to so many guys. I think now that I’m on the other end of it, I understand kind of how it goes. You see these guys playing on TV, then you meet them, it’s surreal.”

An elated Mixon immediately shared his response on Twitter.

Not only did he gain respect from Brady, he also earned some pretty difficult-to-get praise from Bill Belichick.
