The Cincinnati Bengals have been operating a little differently than usual the past few years, and they have continued to change things up.

The Bengals restructured Joe Mixon’s contract so he will take a pay cut next season, and according to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, this is the first time the Bengals have been able to rework a deal with a player.

This gives the Bengals more of an ability to lock up some other players long-term like Joe Burrow, Tee Higgins, Logan Wilson and maybe some others.

Looking like they could be perennial contenders is also new for the Bengals, but with the team they have been able to put together, it seems like it could be a reality if they are able to lock up some of those guys long-term.

Unprecedented territory comes with unprecedented moves for the Bengals still on the lookout for their first Super Bowl win now that the window is wide open.
