Former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft after a record-setting senior season at LSU in 2019.
Burrow was outstanding as a rookie for the Cincinnati Bengals until a knee injury in a November loss against the Washington Football Team prematurely ended his season.
As expected, the Bengals struggled after Burrow’s injury. Cincinnati finished the 2020 NFL season with a 4-11-1 record and the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft.
Picking No. 5 overall puts the Bengals in a good position to select one of the top offensive tackles in this upcoming draft class, such as Penei Sewell of Oregon. After all, Burrow was sacked 32 times in his injury-shortened rookie season.
However, one of Burrow’s former teammates at LSU — wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase — could also be an option.
Burrow recently participated in an interview with Fanatics, which featured a live Q&A session with fans, and the quarterback was asked about playing Chase again in the NFL.
“I’d love to play with Ja’Marr,” Burrow responded. “He’s a great player, we’re still in contact all the time, we talk every now and then. He’s a great dude and a great player. I’d love to have him on the team.”

The Bengals could use another weapon on offense to pair with Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, which would suddenly Cincinnati one of the top receiver groups in the NFL.
In LSU’s 2019 national championship season, Chase finished with 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns with Burrow as his quarterback.
The 2021 NFL draft begins on Thursday, April 29.
