LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was the overwhelming favorite to win the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night over finalists Chase Young, Justin Fields and Jalen Hurts, and the Tigers star’s victory came by a record margin.
Burrow became the second player from LSU to win the award, and the first since Billy Cannon in 1959. The voting numbers revealed that the Heisman race wasn’t really a contest at all. Burrow broke several voting records in 2019, and is now unquestionably the most decisive Heisman winner of all time.

- Largest margin of victory: 1,846 points
- Highest percentage of possible points: 93.8%
- Percent of ballots received: 95.5%
Those records were previous held by Troy Smith, O.J. Simpson, Troy Smith and Marcus Mariota, respectively (excluding Reggie Bush’s now-vacated win in 2005).
