Understandably, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t have many problems reeling in the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night.
Besides the college football postseason, his next big feat is the draft process — where the Cincinnati Bengals await.
Which shouldn’t undersell the impressiveness of Saturday. Burrow reeled in the award after completing 77.9 percent of his passes with 4,715 yards and 48 touchdowns against six interceptions. He led LSU to a 13-0 record during one of the most meteoric rises for a prospect in recent history. Said record included wins over top-10 Texas, Flordia, Auburn, Alabama and Georgia teams.
Burrow then went on to set his own record given the sheer dominance of his win:
Joe Burrow received 1,846 more points than runner-up Jalen Hurts. That’s the largest margin of victory in Heisman history.
Burrow also received 90.7% of first place votes, breaking the record held by Troy Smith (86.7%) in 2006. pic.twitter.com/XyEsJoFIZY

Should the Bengals pick first overall, which they remain heavy favorites to do as of this writing, they can’t say no to Burrow.
Never mind the floundering state of Andy Dalton’s career and the fact he needs an extension — Burrow is just that good of a prospect. It’d be different if he was stacking up the stats against bad teams or had one severe flaw in his game, if not off the field.
But there’s nothing there. Evaluators don’t see much in the way of problems with his game. Simply put, it’s a very, very good time to need a quarterback. And with Chase Young saying he’s on his way back to Ohio State, even more so.
If Bengals fans have the time, Burrow’s full Heisman speech is worth the watch. There isn’t any reason the team shouldn’t bring the kid who played ball in Athens, Ohio home, after all:
Joe Burrow’s full Heisman speech. Maybe the best I’ve seen. #LSU https://t.co/qMnOvXySQB
