Don’t panic — even he knows it’s unlikely.

Joe Burrow sounds like a guy who wants to take a hit in his preseason debut this weekend.

The Cincinnati Bengals announced a somewhat surprising bit of news Wednesday by revealing that Burrow will indeed play during Sunday’s preseason finale against the Miami Dolphins.

Here’s how Burrow responded when asked if he’d like to take a hit, per Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic: “I do. I don’t think that’s going to happen.”

Burrow figures to get a series or two max and any time he actually drops back to pass it will surely be quick-hitters that ask him to fire the ball off right away.

But Burrow wanting to take a hit is just what fans have come to expect from his personality and leadership type. And maybe it’s better to get the bated-breath moment out of the way sooner than later, right?

Either way, Burrow will be on the field over the weekend getting live game reps.
