With no preseason games to help things along, training camp scrimmages were going to be more important than ever for Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.
And let’s just say Burrow made the most of Friday’s scrimmage.
Burrow started as hot as it gets on his first drive, completing all six of his pass attempts for 69 yards, capping off the drive with a touchdown pass to wideout Auden Tate, per ESPN’s Ben Baby.
Included in there? A 3rd-and-14 conversion to Tate, one of the guys running with the first-team offense while A.J. Green sits out with a hamstring injury.
Here’s a small collection of reactions from the first drive, with more surely to follow if Burrow keeps playing like this:
On his first drive, Joe Burrow goes 6-for-6 for 69 yards, including a 6-yard TD pass to Auden Tate, who made a great catch on a half-fade in the back left corner of the end zone.

Wow. Hell of a first scrimmage drive for Joe Burrow. Goes 6 of 6 for 69 yards, including a third-and-14 conversion to Auden Tate, then a perfect goal-to-go fade to Tate for a TD. That’ll do.

Joe Burrow’s first possession in #Bengals scrimmage: 11 play touchdown drive. Burrow goes 6-for-6, hitting Auden Tate with a back shoulder fade at the front left pylon for the TD. Burrow also kept the drive alive with a third down scramble for a first down
