LSU quarterback [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag] had captured the nation’s attention during the 2019 season long before his team captured a national championship.
An unbelievable campaign led to Burrow winning the Heisman Trophy that season, but the moment that may have truly cemented his legacy as “Joe Cool” came after the Tigers had won the national championship game against Clemson.
While a victorious LSU team was celebrating in the locker room, Burrow and several other players lit up a celebratory cigar.
Little did he know, smoking was banned at the Superdome, and things nearly got a bit dicey for the former first overall pick. He recounted the story during a recent appearance on the Full Send Podcast.
“We were going to smoke all the cigars in the locker room. We starting smoking them, and the cops come in,” Burrow said. “I guess you’re not allowed to smoke inside or whatever, and they started trying to arrest people. We’re like, ‘What’s going on? Come on.’”

Burrow clarified that no LSU players were actually arrested, and the police ultimately stood down. But it’s a funny incident that could have marred what was arguably the biggest moment of Burrow’s career.
Hopefully, if Burrow is ever able to win a Super Bowl with the Cincinnati Bengals, he’ll be allowed to enjoy a stogie in peace.
