The Bengals made some calls about the upcoming preseason game.

As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals won’t risk Joe Burrow during the team’s preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Though Burrow sounds like a guy who wants nothing more than to suit up for something like Saturday’s game, Zac Taylor has made the call.

“But at the end of the day it’s not my decision and I don’t get paid to make that decision. I get paid to play quarterback,” Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com.

Taylor did reveal, though, that running back Joe Mixon will be a go for at least a little while as the team looks to get his game legs back under him. Mixon says he was 100 percent earlier this year after an injury limited him to six games last season.

Otherwise, nothing shocking on the attendance front — the Bengals won’t risk guys with nagging issues and the opener should largely be a proving ground for guys on the roster bubble.
