Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow continues to make waves off the field in important ways.
Burrow’s latest feat is partnering with organizations in Southeast Ohio to create a hunger relief fund aptly named the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund.
The Bengals quarterback issued the following statement, per ESPN’s Ben Baby:
“I’m so grateful for the outpouring of support from people across the country around the food insecurity issues faced by those in my region. The initial funds that were raised have had an immediate impact for people throughout Athens County, and I am honored to lend my support and voice to this new initiative that will ensure that impact lasts long into the future.”
Burrow also detailed the initiative on social media:
Honored to partner & support the Athens County Food Pantry & Foundation for Appalachian Ohio in conjunction with the Joe Burrow Hunger Relief Fund. Thank you to @kroger, @bose, & @peoplesbank for joining me in kick starting this program. For more info click the link in my bio pic.twitter.com/cD5bJROZQ6

This is far from the first time Burrow has made a big impact away from the field. His famous Heisman Trophy speech led to an outpouring of support for similar causes in the area before the draft and his speaking out during the George Floyd protests didn’t go unnoticed.
While Burrow’s busy preparing for his first NFL season, it’s hard to imagine this is the last we’ve heard about his using his platform for good.
