For those of you that aren’t aware, i.e. me, the Bengals are super popular in the “Bluegrass State.” Kentucky was the only state in the country where the Bengals led in jersey sales.
The player that headlined those sales? Our guy, Joe Cool. Joey Burrow finished as the highest-selling jersey in his home state of Ohio and Kentucky. Surprisingly, the Browns were the top-selling uniform in the state of Ohio. Maybe one day the Browns will go to the Super Bowl…don’t take that out of context.
The Cincinnati Bengals are in the Super Bowl now. They play against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday for the coveted Lombardi trophy. It would be the first championship in Bengals franchise history.
Who would’ve thought the young kid from Athens, Ohio would be drafted by the Bengals. Not to mention in year two would throw for 5,453 yards, 38 touchdowns, and lead the Bengals to possibly their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history.
If Joe Burrow is able to lead the Bengals to a win over the Rams, it will be the biggest championship win for an Ohio-born player since…Lebron James.
“I’m just a kid from Akron, Ohio.” James has said those words many times. He came back to the Cleveland Cavaliers and won an NBA Championship in 2016 over the Golden State Warriors. That was the Cavaliers’ first-ever championship. Different sport, same narrative.
