The Cincinnati Bengals are likely doing plenty of research into probable No. 1 pick Joe Burrow.
And that goes both ways.
Tucked into some details about the Bengals and Burrow is the idea the Heisman Trophy-winner is asking other teams about the Bengals, per Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer:
“10. We’ve got a fun follow-up on our note last week that Bengals DE Sam Hubbard has become an important conduit between the team and LSU QB Joe Burrow. Given all the buzz over whether or not Burrow wants to be a Bengal, the Cincinnati staff has tapped its 24-year-old pass-rusher for information. Turns out Burrow and Hubbard spent a good chuck of Super Bowl week in Miami together. Add that to the fact that Burrow has asked other teams that have been interviewed him about the Bengals, and it’s fair to say both sides are doing their fair share of tire-kicking.”
We noted Burrow hanging out with Sam Hubbard when it happened — and so did Carlos Dunlap.
Hubbard himself has said he’s campaigning hard for Burrow to the Bengals.
But the idea Burrow has been asking around about the Bengals has been just that — an idea. Now it really has some wheels and in quite the interesting fashion.
Regardless of what anyone tells Burrow (Anthony Munoz, for example, has said the Bengals are a great destination), the Bengals are probably going to make him the first pick.
But just keep in mind the Bengals aren’t the only ones putting in due diligence right now.
