Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow linked up with Zac Taylor and says he and the head coach have had conversations about Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins as deep threats down the field.

Both Burrow and Chase spoke out about the lack of deep shots in the Week 2 loss to the Chicago Bears. Taylor responded to Burrow, Chase and fans publicly earlier this week.

Faced with a media session on Wednesday, Burrow inevitably faced questions about how the attack might change in Week 3 and whether he’s had conversations with Taylor about it.

Burrow noted the following, according to Fox 19’s Jeremy Rauch:

It’s not totally unreasonable for Bengals players (and fans) to feel like the offense didn’t open up deep enough in Chicago. The Bears sat on everything due to the lack of a threat and dissected everything else the Bengals tried to do as a result.

Funnily enough, Chase has now made history with his two touchdowns of 40-plus yards, so it’s not like Burrow and Chase haven’t shown it can work.

An emphasis on the team’s best deep weapons will probably be key for the Bengals as they hit the road to play the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend.
