Joe Burrow glove saga continued at Bengals training camp

Yes, Joe Burrow glove watch is still a thing.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow earned more national attention on Tuesday to close out training camp as the final joint practice with the Indianapolis Colts concluded.

Yes, it’s about the glove again.

Burrow went viral on Monday for wearing a black glove during practice. He didn’t throw with it and only donned it between some drills and reps. But it was enough to get the rumor and speculation mill fired up given his comeback bid from a wrist injury on the same arm and the fact compression sleeves on his arm and calf last year eventually led to disastrous results.

But once again, everyone around the team sort of handwaved the whole thing as ordinary.

That includes head coach Zac Taylor, as noted by Pro Football Network’s Jay Morrison:

And in most years, the glove is just that — ordinary.

Unfortunately for Burrow and the Bengals, something like this will fall under an intense microscope for now. He had the compression sleeve on his calf due to “tightness” last summer before the non-contact injury that derailed the season. Then, who can forget the sleeve and even glove-or-tablet-device saga before his season-ending wrist injury?

So, the glove is probably ordinary in the sense it’s due to moisture and grip. And in past years, maybe it went overlooked.

But it isn’t now, at least until Burrow can register a healthy season.
