All the way back from his offseason rehab and after taking snaps during his team’s preseason finale, Joe Burrow has set playoffs and an AFC North title as a goal for his Cincinnati Bengals.

In a sitdown with ESPN’s Dan Graziano, Burrow outlined those goals and where his team must improve in 2021 to make those goals a reality:

“Make the playoffs. Win the division. We really need to get better at closing out games. We had leads in the fourth quarter of something like seven or eight games last year and we ended up losing all of them. We just need to be better down the stretch.

The Bengals were indeed disappointing near the end of most games in 2020 as the roster overhaul continued. This offseason saw the front office and coaching staff continue to remake the roster with ideal leaders and schematic fits.

That many moving pieces could take quite a bit of time to fully form a cohesive product on the field. Plus, Burrow himself probably won’t be back at 100 percent in Week 1. But the Bengals — and their franchise passer — think they have a talented enough roster to weather the early storm and make a push this season.
