For those who have followed Joe Burrow at any point in his career, it isn’t a surprise to hear he’s calm, cool and collected before the Cincinnati Bengals likely make him the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft.
Burrow, like many, had a round of interviews early this week before the draft. He made it clear a few times he isn’t stressing the situation about to unfold Thursday night — and he understands wild things can happen.
He told Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio the following:
“I’ve been watching the draft enough years that I know crazy things have happened. I’ve watched people on camera slip, and then the camera stays in their face and all that stuff. I’m keeping everything on the table. Honestly, I expect to be No. 1, but I’m not positive about it.”
ESPN’s Ben Baby captured a segment from another interview:
This morning on @GolicAndWingo, Joe Burrow was asked a potential curveball on draft night: "I've been watching the draft too many years to expect where I'm going, but I wouldn't say I'm stressed about it."

Burrow to the Bengals is a lock. The team used all of its allotted time to meet with him and go over the offense over the course of the last month. There’s a reason NFL odds have a hilarious line on him going first.
For now, Burrow continues to play the game smoothly and honestly. He’s not guaranteeing he’ll be the No. 1 pick — but he’d know better than most.
