Joe Burrow carted off field at Bengals training camp

An issue to watch at Bengals training camp.

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow showed up with a new sleeve on his calf to Thursday’s training camp practice, as noted by onlookers there.

Later during practice, Burrow scrambled from pressure and came up limping after a play, favoring his right leg.

Burrow went and sat down with trainers while practice moved and continued without him. A cart came out quickly to transport Burrow off the field.

While the cart could be precautionary in the sweltering heat, it goes without saying that this is a huge deal for Burrow and the Bengals.

The Cincinnati Enquirer’s Kelsey Conway provided a look at the cart coming out:

Caleb Noe of WCPO provided a look at the play and aftermath:

Burrow and the Bengals are currently engaged in contract extension discussions that could make him the highest-paid player in NFL history, to add that complication atop any of the team’s long-term hopes if this is something more than a cramp.

UPDATE: Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters after practice that Burrow suffered a calf injury of unknown severity. Ja’Marr Chase offered encouraging thoughts after talking with Burrow.
