Joe Burrow and some of his surrounding weapons on the Cincinnati Bengals aren’t going to wait patiently for training camp.
In fact, per Bengals wideout Auden Tate, Burrow and Co. are busy trying to work out the logistics of a workout before training camp.
“We’re just trying to figure out where and when. Soon,” Tate said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “He’s real cool. He’s real assertive. He talks up. He’s not a normal rookie that comes in kind of shy. He comes in real sure of who he is. You can see his confidence.”
The logistics aren’t easy, of course. The middle of the offseason means players are spread out all over the country and coronavirus guidelines vary by state.
But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about Bengals players trying to set something up around Burrow, the new franchise passer. A.J. Green has told Burrow to name the place and they’ll come. Burrow’s also taken a leadership role in this regard, per Jessie Bates.
Not that Tate is stressing too much if the crew can’t work something out before camp.
“The way our offense is set up,” Tate said. “It’s good because he can learn it fast. I feel like we’re all in a good position even though the Covid stuff is going on.”
Still, confidence in the all-virtual setup won’t stop a guy like Burrow from trying to make the workouts reality — and it won’t stop names like Tate and Green from getting to the seemingly inevitable sessions.
