Get ready for more sports on “Jeopardy!” as FOX Sports announcer Joe Buck will reportedly get his chance to serve as guest host on the popular show this summer.
Following the tragic death of host Alex Trebek last November, “Jeopardy!” has been trying out guest hosts while it mulls over its decision to find his permanent replacement.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has captured the hearts of “Jeopardy!” fans everywhere during his guest-hosting stint on the popular ABC series over the last two weeks. So much so that many wanted Rodgers to take on the gig full-time, including Rodgers himself.
While there was a warm reception for Rodgers’ guest-host stint, which concluded Friday, the same can’t be said for Buck, who has also received his fair share of criticism as a FOX Sports announcer.
The reaction to his guest-host gig, as you might imagine, isn’t pretty with many fans threatening to boycott the show if Buck gets the permanent job. Others took it as an opportunity for a dig.
Aaron Rodgers vs. Joe Buck.

Joe Buck can’t even sound excited when calling a football or baseball game
Is jeopardy just trying to bore people to death? https://t.co/58wBZyShnB

Jeopardy really making Joe Buck the guest host when he’s the main reason why sports fans watch their favorite teams with the TV muted

If Joe Buck becomes the host of Jeopardy I'm going to learn to read lips so I can watch every episode on mute

Well Joe Buck is a surefire way to ensure I never, ever watch Jeopardy again. Also, @AaronRodgers12 was pretty fantastic as a host. https://t.co/I96MauyPbS

We don’t want to hear Joe Buck announce sports games. Definitely don’t want to hear him on Jeopardy. https://t.co/7ImUaEkKLq

Whether it’s Rodgers or Buck that ultimately gets the permanent hosting gig remains to be seen as ABC continues to cycle through guest hosts, with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, CBS News’ Bill Whitaker, actress Mayim Bialik, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie and Dr. Sanjay Gupta on deck.
