Former LSU wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. wasn’t drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft this past weekend, as many expected him to be.
However, Marshall might be in an even better position to succeed early on in his NFL career as he’s been reunited with Joe Brady, the offensive coordinator of the Panthers.
Brady coached Marshall at LSU in 2019 when he was the passing game coordinator for the LSU Tigers.
The Carolina Panthers selected Marshall in the second round, with 59th overall draft pick this past weekend.

Did Brady have anything to do with the Panthers drafting Marshall in the second round? Possibly.
Brady certainly seemed thrilled with the Panthers drafting Marshall over the weekend.
Joe Brady: "Not too many people are 6-2, 200-plus and run a 4.3, and are able to make plays on the ball like Terrace does."

“He’s a good fit,” Brady said after he spoke with Marshall on the phone.

“All I can say is, we have a great vision for him as a Carolina Panther. The skillset he has is going to be a great asset to our offense,” Brady said. “The more weapons you have is always better. It’s our job to find out what he does well, and put him in positions to have success. Excited to get back to work with him, and see him earn it all over again.”
The familiarity that Joe Brady has with Terrace Marshall Jr. should certainly benefit both Marshall as well as Brady.
Drawing up plays and putting a rookie receiver in the best position to succeed is crucial early on and Brady knowing Marshall’s game will be a big advantage to this Panthers offense.
Brady said that there’s not a player who works harder and is more dedicated to his craft than Marshall is.

“Not too many people are 6-2, 200-plus, run a 4.3, and are able to make plays on the ball like Terrace does,” Brady said. “When the ball’s in the air, Terrace always finds a way to come down with it, and I think he showcased that every time he was on the football field.”
He also mentioned how much he admires Marshall’s focus and drive.
“He never sat there questioning things or complaining. He just went to work and knew his time was going to come, and was going to play his game. When his opportunities came to be the guy, he made the most of it.”
The Carolina Panthers offense could be must-watch TV this coming season, and Terrace Marshall Jr. is in an excellent position to make an impact on day one.
