J.J. Watt tests positive for COVID, will not travel to Tennessee

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman J.J. Watt was not going to play in the team’s Sunday night preseason matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and he wasn’t going to play in the preseason finale next week against the Tennessee Titans. However, he will not be with the team for either game and will not make the trip to Nashville.

The team announced that Watt tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be with the team for Sunday’s game and will also not travel with the team to Tennessee.

Watt will have to be away from the team at least five days. The Cardinals were scheduled to have two days of joint practices in Nashville on Wednesday and Thursday before their preseason finale Saturday.

Assuming he will be back with the team after this week, he will have two weeks of practice to get ramped up physically again and should be fully healthy and ready to play in the Cardinals’ Week 1 opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
