J.J. Wat, Justin Reid welcome TCU DT Ross Blacklock to the Texans

Leaders on the Houston Texans defense, DE J.J. Watt and S Justin Reid, took to Twitter to welcome former TCU DT Ross Blacklock to the team.

Ross Blacklock is getting a warm welcome back home.

The Houston Texans selected the former Missouri City Elkins High School product in Round 2 with the 40th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Safety Justin Reid took to Twitter to welcome the TCU Horned Frog to the six-time AFC South champions.

“Yessir!!” Reid tweeted on Friday evening. “Welcome home bruh. Let’s get to work.” Reid then posted a flexing bicep emoji along with tagging Blacklock.

Defensive end J.J. Watt tagged Blacklock as well and welcomed him to the defensive line room.

“Let’s Eat!!” Watt exclaimed.

The Texans are getting a player in Blacklock who looks forward to making an impression as a leader and hard worker. He also has confidence in playing both the three technique and zero technique as a defensive tackle.

“In our defense you’ve got to be able to play both,” Blacklock said at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis in February. “You’ve got to be comfortable to play both, because when the offense shifts — the back shifts, or the tight end set shifts or whatever the case may be — you’ve got to be able to flip sides and be able to play both sides of the ball.

“I’m comfortable with any part of the line — end, nose, 3-tech, any of those — but I see myself playing in the NFL playing 3-tech.”

Defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver will figure out just where to put Blacklock to help the Texans defensive line penetrate the line of scrimmage and dominate opposing offenses.
