[autotag]JJ Redick[/autotag] might yet be the next Los Angeles Lakers head coach, but he’s not ready to talk to anyone about it yet.
One day after The Athletic’s Shams Charania said Redick holds the frontrunner spot for the Lakers, who are reportedly infatuated with the former Blue Devil, Redick said his focus is on the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks.
The two franchises play in the best-of-seven NBA Finals beginning on Thursday, and Redick will join the television crew for the series as a commentator.
“In terms of Shams, that will be addressed once the season is over,” Redick said during a Wednesday morning appearance on GoJo and Golic. “I’ll just say that.”
Redick smiled as the hosts applauded the vagueness and professionalism of his answer.
Duke’s all-time leading scorer still holds records for single-season scoring average, career 3-pointers made, and free-throw percentage. After being a first-round pick for the Orlando Magic in the 2006 NBA draft, he played for 15 seasons in the NBA.
JJ Redick addressed reports of the Los Angeles Lakers' interest in him as their new head coach.
"My focus is on the NBA finals. In terms of [the report by] Shams, that will be addressed once the season's over."

Redick has remained linked to the Lakers since the beginning of the coaching search with fans pointing out his podcast with Lakers’ star LeBron James as a potential connection.
