As No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson got his first taste of NBA action this season, the New Orleans Pelicans forward offered a glimpse of his future potential on the court.

Through 19 games played, Williamson averaged 23.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists with the Pelicans. Williamson set the NBA record for a teenager for the most consecutive games (13) scoring at least 20 points, topping the previous mark held by Carmelo Anthony.

Williamson entered the season with high expectations and his Pelicans teammate, J.J. Redick, is among those that believe Williamson can reach his potential. Appearing on “Get Up” on ESPN on Wednesday morning, Redick named the accomplishments Williamson can attain over his career.

An NBA MVP, First-Team All-NBA, a Hall of Famer and a guy who leads teams to championships. I think that’s his ceiling. He hasn’t even come close really to scratching the surface and as his skill level develops as the games slow down a little bit for him, he is going to be even better, which is scary, for sure.

Williamson would have likely been the frontrunner for the NBA Rookie of the Year award had it not been for his knee injury that delayed his debut until January. In any case, the future appears to be bright for Williamson in New Orleans.
