Can [autotag]Jiri Prochazka[/autotag] and [autotag]Glover Teixeira[/autotag] top their instant classic from earlier this year? Fight fans will soon find out.
Prochazka, the defending light heavyweight champion, will put his title on the line in a rematch with Glover Teixeira on Dec. 10 at UFC 282. A person with knowledge of the situation confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie on Thursday following an initial report by The Underground.
According to Ariel Helwani, it’s unclear if the title fight will serve as the main or co-main event of UFC 282, which will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Ever since their Fight of the Year, an immediate rematch between Prochazka (29-3-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Teixeira (33-8 MMA, 16-6 UFC) has felt inevitable, with both men hinting at it. Prochazka and Glover fought in June at UFC 275 in Singapore where Prochazka pulled off a late fifth-round submission win. Teixeira was up on two judges’ scorecards heading into the fifth round after 20 minutes of an all-action battle.
For Prochazka, 29, the victory was his 13th in a row and third consecutive in the UFC. Teixeira, 42, meanwhile, had his six-fight winning streak snapped in his first title defense after he claimed the 205-pound title from Jan Blachowicz in October 2021.
With the addition, the UFC 282 lineup now includes:
- Champ Jiri Prochazka vs. Glover Teixeira – for light heavyweight title
- Jan Blachowicz vs. Magomed Ankalaev
- Robbie Lawler vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio
- Alexander Gustafsson vs. Ovince Saint Preux
