The Baltimore Ravens have established themselves as one of the best teams in the NFL both on and off of the field. Their culture is something that they take immense pride in, and there have been countless examples of players who have enjoyed their time in Baltimore for multiple reasons.
In a Q&A between Jeff Zrebiec of the Athletic and Jimmy Smith, the veteran cornerback revealed that he “absolutely will not” play for a team that isn’t the Ravens.
“I absolutely will not play for another team…If the Ravens didn’t re-sign me last year and I felt like I could still play, I probably would have still retired.”
Smith is entering his 11th season in the NFL, all of which have been played in Baltimore. He has developed into one of the best cornerbacks in Ravens franchise history, and while he’s had a bit of an injury history, there’s no debating the impact he’s had on the Baltimore organization.
Hearing Smith say he’s loyal to the Ravens is something that can sometimes get lost in today’s game, especially with so many players changing teams each year. He has been a consistent contributor for many Baltimore defenses, and as his career begins to wind down, it should stay that way for the rest of his days playing in the NFL.
