49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a shoulder sprain in the first half Sunday vs. the Dallas Cowboys. While he finished the wild-card game, his status for Saturday in Green Bay for the divisional playoffs isn’t a certainty.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan on Monday expressed optimism about his starting QB’s availability, but Garoppolo was limited in Tuesday’s practice. After the session the quarterback spoke with reporters and didn’t give a ringing endorsement of his health.

“Yeah, we’ll feel it out throughout the week, but yeah, just feeling good right now,” Garoppolo said when asked if he was confident he’d play Saturday.

The quarterback also said his shoulder and thumb, which has a torn ligament, both feel the same as of Tuesday afternoon.

Going into a divisional playoffs in sub-freezing temperatures in Green Bay isn’t a great time to have a starting quarterback dealing with multiple injuries on his throwing arm, but that’s where the 49ers find themselves. Garoppolo played well through the thumb injury in Week 18. Now San Francisco’s season may come down to whether he can play through the shoulder sprain as well.
